What is Cellular Rubber?
Cellular Rubber has a variety of benefits, in that it is light, waterproof and flexible. It is classed as a Foam Rubber with no cell structure, which gives it the ability to be compressed.
There are two main types of cellular Rubber that can be used: open-cell Rubber and closed-cell Rubber.
1. Open-cell Rubber.
2. Closed-cell Rubber.
Cellular Rubber, also known as Foam Rubber or sponge Rubber, is a type of synthetic or natural Rubber that has a cellular or porous structure. This structure is created by incorporating gas into the Rubber during the manufacturing process, resulting in a material with a high degree of elasticity and compressibility.
The cells in cellular Rubber can be open or closed, depending on the specific application requirements. Open-cell Rubber has interconnected cells, allowing air and other substances to pass through, while closed-cell Rubber has sealed cells that do not allow the passage of air or liquids.
Cellular Rubber is often used for its cushioning and sealing properties. It provides excellent insulation against sound, heat, and vibrations. Common applications include gaskets, seals, insulation, padding in automotive and industrial settings, and various consumer products. It is also used in the production of footwear, sports equipment, and packaging materials. The specific properties of cellular Rubber can be tailored to meet the requirements of different applications, making it a versatile material in various industries
Foam Cutting Services for the Conversion Industry
Alanto has the machinery capabilities for Foam cutting, to split these materials into sheets and continuous rolls. Our machinery processing along with digital measuring facilities allow us to supply materials with accurate and tight tolerance levels. These include both closed-cell Rubber and open-cell Rubber.
We can split closed-cell Rubber and Polyethylene Foams in a thickness range from 1mm up to block thickness in any increments to suit your individual requirements.
Our facilities allow us to process materials to your individual dimensional needs to enable conversion and processing for a wide range of finished products.
Our range of self-adhesive products includes Rubber Resin based adhesives which generally have high levels of initial bond strength and are economically priced. Alternatively, we have a diverse catalogue of Aqueous and Solvent based Acrylic adhesives for more demanding applications. Acrylic adhesives have advantages over Rubber Resin products in applications requiring higher temperature stability and resistance to humidity and fluids.
Products include:
- Die-Cut seals and gaskets in large or small quantities.
- Coils and rolls of sealing materials.
- Cut lengths and angle cut sections.
- Fabrications and multi-layered materials.
